So much preparation for this trip. We have been fitting out the car with roof rack, bull bar, awning, drawers, UHF radio and had a GVM upgrade. The car is so high now I need a step to get in and out!
As we STILL do not have our off road caravan (delivery promised by end of month) our spare room is full of all we need to put in the van. You would not believe what has to be bought for a trip like this, as soon as we buy one thing we see another thing that would be of help. Our first aid kit is extensive, something we hope we never get to use. The dogs Phoebe and Chloe also have a check list! Lists for everything everywhere!! Will be so glad to finally get in and drive away.
Jock and I get very excited each time we meet up with Michelle and Trevor to talk trip plans. This weekend we also met with Joy and Mick they really got us excited. They have friends on properties that have said to call in, these properties are huge and so interesting to go to. Mick was telling us of petrified wood he can take us to see by way of palm trees that have fallen and even have petrified coconuts. Ruins from days gone by, wildlife, views, historical sites etc etc, who’s getting excited? We also discussed the general direction for our trip. We will not be using the main roads, we are definitely going off road, off the grid.
We have had to source many things that either work on 12 volt or usb. Our van (when we get it) has solar panels. We have an extra house battery as well as the two in the van. We have a generator if required. Oh, and a kitchen sink!! Just ask me what don’t we have. My answer to that……….the bloody caravan.
